These are groups of paintings organized within specific years where I was exploring certain themes and ideas. Across the years, a common thread in my work has been the inclusion of mixed-media (primarily acrylics, pencils, oils on wood, paper and/or canvas) as well as imagery that is often layered.
The featured painting is a painting (and, at times, its corresponding poem) that I select in order to focus on it and discuss the idea(s) behind it, the media and theme(s), and/or to showcase a recent direction.
I have had the honor to have collaborated with different individuals and institutions throughout my artistic career. These include collaborations in murals, book covers, commissions, magazine covers.
I have always enjoyed making images not only through drawing and painting but also with words. I have been writing in a sort of "stream of consiousness", "automatic writing" approach for many, many years. What you may view by following the links below is a small collection of my writings.
Cantos Alegres, Embrace Creation and Divine Days are the titles to groups of musical compositions that Paul Basler, Professor of Music at University of Florida at Gainesville, created utilizing my poems as text.
In my artist statement you may read what I have to say concerning what my art is about.
